Description:

For this project, students create a craft using popsicle sticks and yarn. First, student will brainstorm patterns and practice on scratch paper. Next, they will collect 16 pieces of yarn for two colors). The students will then draw their patterns on their popsicle sticks using sharpies. Finally, they will use the bottom popsicle stick to tie their yarn, and they will use to long pieces of yarn to tie the sticks together. 

Extension Activity:

This project could be integrated into a social studies lesson. For example, students could create patterns using the symbols of different eras in American history. Therefore, they will be using previous knowledge to symbolize and create history and art.
